AoT C’ville #9 – via Zoom!

Astronomy on Tap – Charlottesville is going virtual!

Our first live streamed AoT-Cville event will take place Monday, August 10th from 7-9pm via Zoom webinar. Registration is free, but required to get the Zoom link for viewing. You can register very easily here: http://bit.ly/AoTCvilleWeb
And check out our Facebook event page via this link.

As usual, we’ll have Astronomy themed talks, trivia, and prizes targeted at all ages and experience levels. Preceding our main event will be a live streamed cider tasting from the folks at Albermarle Ciderworks (7:00-7:30pm EDT). Stay tuned to this event page for information regarding deals and pick up orders from Ciderworks for the event.

Taking advantage of the live stream aspect, we’ll have talks from Charlottesville astronomy’s past and present.

Speakers include:

  • Ed Murphy (current UVA professor): on the upcoming Perseid meteor shower and the night sky
  • Al Wooten (NRAO scientist): on ALMA
  • Nicole Gugliucci (past UVA graduate student; currently an Assistant Professor at Saint Anselm College): on radio astronomy and citizen science

We’ll also be keeping things as interactive/fun as possible with our usual trivia interspersed throughout the talks and even mailing out some prizes. We’re excited to bring Astronomy on Tap back to the Charlottesville community and hope you are too! Please share this event and invite friends/family from all over the world to join in our AoT-C’ville community.
